Comments: Dear Classmates,
I have lived in Charleston since 1962 where I met and my husband Jim at Shoney's Drive Inn &
Bowling alley on the Boulevard. He won me over with his guitar playing and great singing voice. We have two
daughters and one granddaughter. I taught at Sissonville High, Herbert Hoover High and Capital High for a total of
32 years with Kanawha County. I retired in 1998 and have enjoyed being able to do what I want. It seems like I am
busier now than when I worked. Unfortunately, my husband is in poor health with heart problems and arthritis so
we are unable to do the traveling we planned to after retirement, but I thank God for all the blessings he has given me
and continues to send my way. Sorry, I didn't make the 45th reunion as we had a family wedding out of town that
weekend. However, I did make the pizza party at the Country Inn and Suites. In fact, I have
been at most of the reunions. Anyway, it was great seeing many of you. We had some great talks and churned up many
old memories. I plan to be at our 50th and I hope as many classmates as possible will be able to come.

Comments: Married Rudd Mahoney in August of '58. We have five children and eight grandchildren, plus three
more we inheirted last year when one of our sons married. Rudd retired from the Air Force in '81. Then went
to work for Civil Service. I retired in '97 to care for Mom. But in January I went back to work just as Rudd began
plans to retire at the end of this year. There's something wrong with this picture! We've had a wondeful life
together. It was fun raising the kids and moving around the world. I've enjoyed reading about our classmates. If you

Comments: After graduation went into 82nd Airborne. After 2 yrs in service meet Connie
Ballard, class of 1961, (sister of Betty Jean Ballard (class of 1958) Connie and I were married
in 1962. We have one son, Richard II, and one granddaughter age 14 mos. After getting out of service in
1962 went in business with my father in the building supply business. This was my career for 30 years. Moved
to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 1989, built some homes and then retired. Connie and I love living in
Florida, we have a Mountain Home in the great Smokey Mountain of NC where we spent our summers, and
come back to FL in the winter. Hope all is well that reads this. Along life's road God called me as a
minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Connie and I spent many wonderful hours each week for this

Comments: I was sorry that I could not attend the last reunion. It is always nice to see everyone and catch up on what you are doing.
I have been married to Roger Henderson from Eccles for 42 years. We have lived in Maryland where I taught school
for 3 years. Moved back to Beckley and taught here. Then we moved to St. Albans and to Parkersburg and back to Harper. We went
into the furniture business in 1980. In 1995 we got out of that and started a fundraising company. We are still in that
business working with schools, civic, church, sports groups, ect. We have worked in business together for 24 years now. That is
quite an accomplishment! We have lived in Glen Daniel now for 21 years. That is a record for us as we have moved 17 times
in our 42 yrs. of marriage.
Our children are 41, Roger. He and his family live in Newport, VA. He is pastor of the Newport 1st
Christian Church and teaches school. He is also assistant basketball coach for Blacksburg High School. His wife
is a physical theropist (Blacksburg Physical Theropy). They have a son 12 and daughter 10.
Rodney is 38 and lives in Smyrna, TN. He has only been married for a year (this May). He works in the field of Human Resources.
Rachel is 28, single and lives in Beckley. She works for Ntelos the cell phone company as an acount agent (I think).
Anyway, she has a good job.
I am still working and will be for awhile yet. But it is interesting.

Comments: Hello to everyone. I learned about this web site at the Class of 1958 reunion - what a gem! The reunion
was great, thanks to all of the people who organized it.
Some of you may recall that I was with the class until the end of our Junior year, then had to move with my
family to Charleston. But in my heart, I am a WWHS grad.
I was married after college, then moved to Virginia. Was in Richmond for over 30 years, then retired
to a farm in the mountains in the western part of the state. Could not get them out of my blood. I can see
West Virginia from my front porch!
My career was in computers, and I still do some part-time consulting work. Mostly, though, I struggle to keep up with farm
and home maintenance, and enjoy my five grandchildren, four of whom live nearby. (The oldest one is in New Orleans, so I visit often!)
I would love to hear from fellow grads. This web site is a great way to find people.

joined the Army, spent 20 years, retiring in 1979 in New Jersey. Worked for the Dept.
of Army for 12 years as an EMT/ambulance driver for 12 years, until the job was abolished.
I am married to Nancy Walker (Class of '59)for the second time. I have 1 daughter by a
marriage between marriages to Nancy, 2 grandchildren and 2 grown stepsons.
I volunteer 1/2 day every day at Crichton School in Quinwood where Nancy teaches special education. I enjoy it.

College and then was in the Air Force for 4 years. After getting out of service

Two of our three children are married and have blessed us with four grandchildren
and another to arrive in August 2001. Pretty good for an only child! Stephen, the
youngest, graduated from WVU last May and is enjoying being single and going fishing
in his new canoe when not working. Jon and I are still busy working in our professions,
engineering and nursing. We always look forward to reunions and to share memories from
the "good old days". The 50'S were great years to become of age.

Comments: I attended the 30th year reunion of the class of
1958 in 1988. It was wonderful. I remembered all the people that were
there, and they all remembered me. Sandy Jones mentioned that they
would like to go to Hawaii for the 35th. Well, after that, I never
heard anything else. I was anxious for the 40th year reunion, but was
really disappointed that I didn't hear anything about a 40th year
reunion?? Maybe we'll have a 50th!! Who knows. Hi Wayne, it's nice to
hear about you. I also recognize Ida Mae Adkin's name and several
others. This is the first time that I have been on this website. I'll
keep looking and I'll write more later. See you all. Oh, by the way,
I have been married, 34 years this October to the same man, Ralph
Chase. Ralph was in the service, the TAR Program (training active
reserves). He retired in 87 in the Cleveland Area, just retired from
Civil Service last September and is still working. Now he has to work
to pay for that new truck! that he just bought. We have three
children, Melissa, Leslie Marie, and Jonathan. None are married so we
don't have any grandchildren to brag about, Mickey, but that's okay.
Our time will come. I'm glad that your's has already come. Talk to
all of you later. When we have a reunion, I'll play some WV songs on
my guitar. So long.

Comments: How nice to have this connection to our school
mates. I think of you all often. I was a banker for 31 years in Va.,
Nev., and FL. and now own my own Real Estate Company selling ocean

After graduating, I moved to Washington D.C. and was married to
Dwayne Wingler and lived in Richmond Virginia for 14 years. I then
moved to Las Vegas and met my wonderful husband Jack. We will be
married for 25 years in August. My sister Connie married Richard
Meadows in our class and they live only one mile from me. Weren't we
lucky to have grown up in the 50's with the best music and best
family values of all times?

Landed in NC in 1966 and worked for NC National Bank. Took early
retirement in 1980 and began 2nd career as John Deere dealer. Married
to a Tar Heel native-one daughter & 3 grandchildren. Retired again in
1995. Have 2nd home at Sunset Beach, and spend good deal of time

Comments: My late husband, John Sawyers, and I both graduated
in 1958. We were married almost 40 years when he passed away in 1999.
I have two wonderful children, Johanna--age 26, and Michael--age 31.
Michael is married to a lovely lady from Hawaii. No grandchildren
yet, just three "grand dogs." Would love to hear from anyone in Class
of 1958 and anyone in the same age group who might have hung out at
MacArthur skating rink. Roller skating was my favorite pastime
growing up. Also would love to hear from grade school classmates from
Prosperity and Cranberry. I have managed a public accounting firm
since 1978 and still love it. No plans for retirement.

Comments: (comments) Grew up with the Class of ‘58, but left
Beckley during April, ‘57. I maintain an accounting practice, but am
flirting with retirement. (Might be more fun to be in Beckley
flirting with Patty Costello.) Looking for something to accomplish
with idle energy when I take the retirement plunge. Fifteen years
into my second marriage, four children by my first. Enjoying a motor
home purchased Christmas, 1999 and keeping up with Beckley through
short trips for genealogy research, reading the Register-Herald
on-line edition and listening to Flying Eagle football through my

Tiffany is 8. We come back to Beckley to visit Shelbys parents, also
for Marshall football game. Have to keep an eye on brother Bob.
Hope everyone in Beckley is supporting Coach Bob at Marshall. When I
not in Beckley I am a season ticket holder for football and
basketball for Florida Gators, enjoy both sports. Enjoy being a high

Public Schools. I have worked the past 3 years as the Assistant Headmaster at Gulliver Prep

and I love it!! I hve 4 children ,3 by a first marriage Chuck -33(He has two boys), Clint-29,
Shannon-26 and Elizabeth Carrie,born March 1st 2000 after 8 years of marriage to my
second wife
Betty. Things could not be better for us. I get back to Beckley a couple
of times each year---A family reunion in late July or early August and early October
to go squirrel hunting with Dad(88 years old and still doing pretty good). Would love
