Comments: I am a Nephrologist (kidney doctor) living in Dalton, GA since 1984. I started my medical practice in Beckley in 1982 as its first nephrologist after finishing training at the University of Virginia, medical school in Morgantown/WVU, and a stint in the US Navy as a Flight Surgeon. I left Beckley in 1984 for multiple reasons to become Dalton's first nephrologist. I am now the senior man in a 5 doctor/2 nurse practitioner specialty group.
I am married for the 3rd time; no children by the first. Two sons by the 2nd, now ages 24 and 20(2010), neither plan to be doctors!! I now have an 11 yo step-son and a 13 yo step-daughter with my 3rd wife, Agnes. We are doing well, looking forward to retirement in a few years. I have a brother and his family and a sister still living in Beckley, so I get back there from time to time, but not as much as I would like. Sure would like to attend a reunion of my class!!

Comments: After retiring from Ral. Co. Schools and substituting AND working my most favorite job I ever had--at Wendy's on Valley Drive--oops, Robert C. Byrd Dr., my daughter, needed me to come to Texas and help her with my granddaughter. My daughter graduated from University of Houston Clear Lake this past May and is now teaching 2nd grade GT Math and Science in a NE Houston area school system. She is a single Mom, now, with a 13 year old who keeps us both on our toes. Granddaughter is in 8th grade but is on debate team with high school varsity. She also plays soft ball in the area league.
Me? Duh!!!! You can take an old teacher and put them out to dry, but we never quit teaching. I'm teaching full time, 7th and 8th grades in a NE Houston area school system. Fully certified in TX and planning to stay out here for a while..until I can collect Social Security, which isn't that far off...ouchies.
My precious husband, my Mom and Dad and my son and his girlfriend are still in Beckley. I get to see them 2-3 times a year, but maybe in a couple of years I'll be back there to stay.
Would LOVE to hear from "OLD" friends and class mates. Anyone live out here in TX?

Comments: I just finished addressing the graduation announcements for my daughter Catherine, who is
graduating from Applachian State University in May. (Hurrah!) My, how time flies! Her twin sister, Victoria,
became seriously ill during her sophomore year, and is a little behind. We'll be mailing her graduation
announcements, hopefully, in the near future. I still teach Chemistry at Randleman High School.
(Somebody has to pay for that college education!) Mike is still in the trucking business. We go
on an annual beach trip with my cousin Joan Gray Parsons and her husband Mead, along with the other
girl cousins and their spouses. We are all impressed that Joan is the only college professor in the
bunch! Now, if we could just get her to act like a college professor---but that wouldn't be any fun!

Comments: I have been in the education field working for Raleigh County Schools
for 34 years. This year I have taken a leave of absence from Raleigh County
Schools and am working as a full time professor at Concord University, filling a
leave of absence for a friend, who is working on her doctorate. I plan to return
to Raleigh County Schools in May to complete my contract (35th year) and will
be retiring in June. I am still married to Mead Parsons (class of '63) and we

I am now a sophmore at Mt. St. Univ. here in Beckley, majoring in Social and behavioral Sciences, I'll only be
60 yrs. young when I graduate. LOL I wanted to see if I could remember anything now that i am ? middle age? I am still

Comments: This is a update from an earlier posting, a few years ago. I have been living in Columbus, OH for
the past 17 - 18 years. I am an ordained Lutheran minister, presently serving as director of continuing education
at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus. I am also adjunct faculty and teach courses on the church and the Holocaust
in Nazi Germany; Jewish - Christian Relations; and the church and public policy advocacy. I am also an on-line graduate
student in political science at Virginia Tech. I am married to Becky who is a compliance officer at the Ohio State
University Medical Center. We have one daughter, Andrea, a junior in international relations and Spanish at Ohio State. (all
of this is important for me to say since I was not one of the notable students in our class, or maybe notable for my lack
of interest in anything academic.)
The other reason for posting is to wonder if there is going to be a class reunion in 2006, the 40 year mark!
We had a great class, all 525 of us. Most of us are still around and available. E mail me if you are aware of activity along this line.

Comments: Really, no changes except in ME! My doctors told me that I would probably NOT be around this
year, but Praise the Lord, I had a kidney/pancreas transplant at Ohio State Medical Center on Dec. 29, 2002! It's been
a long haul, but I am slowly returning to my old self and life is good again. I'm faced with losing my 87 yr. old father
right now and that is VERY hard, but God has been so good to me, I know HE won't desert me now. Thanks to those of you

June. It must have been providence since I saw info on some people I was close to in school. Ive
lived in IL since 1971 but my heart is still in WV. I work in the medical field. The kids are
grown with lives of their own so I enjoy keeping very active on the county rescue squad and being
a certified K-9 handler on the canine search and rescue unit. I'd love to hear from my former

When Skip and I were married 13 years ago, we bought this home in Sandstone and here we
remain. We have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. When we married we had teenagers, aged
14, 16, 17 and 18. That first year was very interesting and the ensuing years have been
supremely happy for us.
Like a lot of West Virginians, I lived outside the state for years until becoming so
homesick I had to move back to the place I always considered my home.

Comments: Hello! I teach chemistry at Randleman High School. I am married to a marvelous
man who is in the trucking business and have twin 17 year-old daughters, hence the "cheerleader" e-mail address.
They are seniors and we are dealing with college applications, the SAT, the ACT, and plans for graduation.
My husband Mike says I absolutely CANNOT go with the girls on the traditional trip to Myrtle Beach after graduation.

Comments: What a great discovery!!! Talk about "flashbacks"..! How wonderful
to read about our classmates...those were wonderful years!!
I am married to a wonderful man, Jim McKenna, a retired Chief of Police from Wheaton,
Illinois. He is now a malpractice investigator for the State of Florida. I have been
employed as the training and benefits coordinator for the City of Plantation (borders
Fort Lauderdale) for almost 21 years. We have five wonderful children, Lisa, G.W., Melissa,
Stephen & Michael.
Lisa and G.W. are blessings from my first marriage that ended after 27 years. My husband
and I are leaders for DivorceCare at the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. We are
burdened by the number of families that are hurting. Once retired, we want to establish
a ministry for hurting people at a place on the Greenbrier River. We are looking for
property..so if you know of any...please let us know.

Comments: What a great idea! Thanks to Suzi Jacob I found you. I think I'm
class of '66, though I ran away from Beckley in 1965 with Denny Isley
(class of '62). We are still happily married with 2 grown kids and only
grandpets. I am an RN, Certified Occupational Health Nurse for the
Smithsonian Institution. Denny is at CIA. Stef is a computer specialist
at Bureau of Immigration. Scott is a commodities broker. My brother Jim
Greenbriar Military '68)still lives in Beckley. I came to the 20th
reunion, but didn't hear anything about later ones. Is there a 35th?
It is strange to read about our people retiring! Remember when we thought

I just moved to New Hampshire last year after spending 20+ years in So Ca.
My husband, Larry, died and my son, Charley (30),
was
moving to New England for a career move so I followed. I have 4 grandchildren,
3 here in New Hampshire, and 1 in Tucson AZ. Sam (31) has been living with his
family there for over 10 years.
I loved Ca and hated to leave,
but the sunshine is no match for the smiling faces of the grandkids.

in the Beckley area -- a medical transcription service and an optical imaging company. We
are back in school (again), working toward another degree -- this time in management -- and
should graduate (again) in February, 2002. We have had a great life it just gets better
every year!
