Comments: Hi everyone! I'm not sure if too many remember me. I am glad to see that most everyone seems to be doing well. My life up until now has had many twists and turns. I've been married to my 2nd husband for 13 happy years and we have 6 wonderful children (his,mine,and ours). We still have 2 sons at home (ages 6
& 10). It's amazing how fast time seems to pass....

We have finalized the details for our upcoming reunion.
The Reunion will be Friday and Saturday, July 18th and 19th, 2008.
There will be three scheduled events for the weekend.
Friday is a casual party at Black Knight from 7:00PM until 10:00PM.
Saturday is a family picnic at Grandview Shelter number 1 from Noon until 2:00PM.
Saturday night is dinner and a DJ at Black Knight from 7:00PM until 10:00PM.
The cost for all 3 events is $83 per person and should be mailed to WWHS Class of 1983, PO Box 13, Beckley, WV 25802.

Comments: After 20 years in Orlando Florida, we moved to Williamsburg VA in 8/07. My two daughters (9 &
15) are adjusting to the cooler climate and my wife and I are enjoying the slower pace of life. I have a similar engineering management position with Liebherr as I did with FMC but am now in the mining and contruction industry as opposed to the airline industry. We moved to get closer to aging parents as it wont be long before they will need more help. We get to Beckley about every 6 weeks now. God has so richly blessed our family. I hope to hear from some old friends soon. I was out of the country during the 20th reunion so I hope to be avaialble for the 25th. Keep in touch. Comments: I read the obituary for Mike Lusk with shock. What a loss! I must say that I just sat down and cried. I haven't seen him since school, but because of our last names, was always seated in front of Mike. I will never forget that easy-going and steadfast personality. He never said a bad word about anyone. He was a kind heart and I am sure he made a wonderful father and husband. I am also sure Little League in Hermitage, Tennessee will remember him every season as the role model I know he was to the young baseball world. There are some things that those of us who were his friends in Elementary school just know.

Comments: New location..again. My husband, John, is working now for CNO (Chief of Naval Operations) at the Pentagon. We loved New England, but it's nice to be close to home for once! Bella is now 9 and Jack is 6 years old. Bella is into soccer, High School Musical, and those dreaded Webkinz! Jack is OBSESSED with ice hockey. Comments: New location. My husband, John, was selected for Naval War College (Masters program) here. We are out
of New Orleans and into New England for 11 months. After that, depending upon Navy selection boards, we could be anywhere.
Not bad looking out of our window and seeing yachts sailing by...beats the heck out of the alligators in the canals we left behind!!
We were "tourists" in Beckley for a couple of weeks this summer. We took the kids on a visit through
the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine so they could understand their heritage. We also took a lot of beautiful trips through Fayetteville.
Hope everyone enjoys their Fall season. I will be THRILLED to see leaves change this year!

I have lived in Columbia, SC, since 1990 and am currently the executive director of the Foundation for the South Carolina Governor's School.
I have three amazing children -- Chip (16), Chad (13.5) and Catie Beth (12). Catie Beth just made middle school cheerleader!!! Go figure!
I find my way back to WV a couple of times a year and still stay in touch with Sarah T., Sheri S. and Lori H.

Comments: We are back in the New Orleans area of Belle Chasse, otherwise known as the Westbank. We lost
everything south of our Naval base. It looks like a bomb exploded. My daughter Bella's school has gone from 800 to
1200 students. Our parish (Plaquemines) has not fired any teachers, but placed all of them in our 3 remaining
schools. We LOVED Mardi Gras this year!!! It was phenomenal and a much needed "pick-me-up" from the devastation we
look at every day. We went to almost every Uptown Krewe this year. We even caught 2 coconuts from Zulu...and now have
3 Rubbermaid tubs full of beads and trinkets. My husband, John, is still flying C-130s here and we don't know how much
longer we will be in the New Orleans area, but even with all the confusion in the political arena, there is NO place
exactly like New Orleans!

Comments: Hurricane Katrina ran us out of the New Orleans area. We still have our house on base, but John's C-130
squadron had major damage and has relocated at NAS Fort Worth now. Our parish (Plaquemines) lost 6 of 10 schools
and much is now under water. Bella and Jack (7 and 4) are now in private Catholic schools here in Texas and adjusting. We
miss gumbo and crawfish, but are getting used to Mexican and BBQ. We have no idea how long we will be based here, but we are
very fortunate and life is one big adventure. I am hoping for a transfer next time somewhere OUT OF THE GULF!! After 12
years in the deep South, I am wondering if there is a hurricane magnet on my back! HA Anyway, it's true. Things are
definitely bigger in Texas!

Comments: Hey, everyone! I'm doing great and hope all is well with the rest of our class. I've been thinking
about a better way for all of us to keep in touch...like a newsletter where we could each submit an update maybe
twice a year? But I guess it would have to be via the internet because of postage expenses. I guess the hardest part
would be getting people to actually stay in touch...I'll admit, I'm guilty...this is my first time submitting something. I've
read other peoples' comments but wasn't sure how to log on until now (computer savvy I'm definitely not)...Anybody else
have ideas on how our class can do this better? I'm just real interested in our wonderful class! I want to know when people get sick,
married, have children...I think we could really be a good support group for each other.
As for more details on my life...I'm married to Rick Oakes who is a landscaper/designer and we have a 5 year old girl
named, Clara. She has made my life complete! She loves Kindergarten, dancing, and putt-putt. When I'm not doing household
"things" I'm still doing my art...focusing on portraits of people, pets, and homes. I would like to be involved with the
next reunion so if anyone knows anything about it, let me know. I have such wonderful memories of our class that I will

I moved to NC pursuing a welding career. Have been a structural welder ever since. I went into business for myself
as a subcontractor in '90. Married my dream girl, Linda (a school teacher), in '92 and 3.5 years later we had our
first child, Brianne. In '99 Brett came along and I declared my quiver full (snip,snip). Construction has taken me

I am still in Beckley, married to Greg McGraw (class of 1977), the mother of two boys,
ages 17 and 12, a 24 year old step daughter, and a 23 year old step son (class of 1997).
EEEK!...Seeing that in writing makes me feel really old!
I had been a "stay at home" mom since 1993, until last March, when "empty nest"
syndrome persuaded me to accept a position with the Regional Education Service Agency
(RESA-I) organizing school based tobacco prevention programs in 6 counties of southern WV.
The job is great, though now I suffer from "never empty nest/ can’t get a minute to my self" syndrome. Ha!

Comments: Well, it was a pleasure to read about so many of my classmates.
After WWHS, I graduated from Wake Forest University and then finished my medical school
torture at West Virginia University. I subsequently suffered through 7 years of general
surgery training at Yale University and an additional 2 more years of plastic and cosmetic
surgery training at Vanderbilt University to have finially finished my education at the ripe age of 35.
Both I and my wife Lubna have started our respective practices around the Washington, DC area and have
two rug rats, Sara 4.5 years and Zain 4.5 weeks. I miss Beckley but am glad to see so many people
with lovely families and children spread all over the globe. Now that I finally have a life I would
love to get in touch with others. If any of you all are in the DC metropolitan area and are not
staying at the White House you are more than welcome in our home.

Comments: After graduation I went to Beckley College, then I joined the USAF in 86'.
I met my wife Laura while we were both stationed in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. We have both made
the Air Force our career. We have 2 children, Chris and Sarah. Since I've been in the USAF
I received my BS from Wayland Baptist University, and have been to many different countries,
England, Holland, Saudi and Guam to name a few. We were most recently stationed in Fairbanks,
Alaska for the last 4 years, and we are now stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas. My family
still lives on Maxwell Hill and I make it back to Beckley every year or so. Hope to see some

I have lived in Tampa, FL since 1988.
Until this year I was a computer programmer for JBA International (ERP Software).
I commuted to work from Tampa to LA, New York, or Chicago every week for years.
Lots of travelling, lots of fun, but I also left little time for living. I finally
left JBA this year for BIC (pens, lighters....you know us.) No more flying cross-country
every Monday and Friday. I am glad to be home, but trying to figure out what to
do with all this extra free time! Tampa is a great place to live...lots to do...and I
built my dream home in 1996, so I guess I will stay here. Hope to hear from some

Atlanta after living in Jacksonville, Fl. for 8 years. I am co-owner
of a training school for CPR, First Aid, and ACLS. We hope to expand
to include EMT courses in the summer. We opened our business (Emergency
Medical Educators) in August of 2000. I still work for a chiropractic
clinic while our company grows (still like security). I haven't been in
touch with many people from school since college at Fairmont State.

I then joined the Air Force and served for 6 years on active duty. I

sciences division at Dettermer adolescent residential center in Troy,
Ohio. Can you believe that...me, most mischievous. However, I love
it and I wouldn't do anything different. I also still work for the
Air Force full time in the Obstetrics department. I love babies, but
I can always give them back to there mother. Anyway, I have a 10
year old daughter named Tiffany and I'm currently single and loving
it. I wish I knew about the other reunions, but I was never

is a really nice touch. I graduated from Radford University in '87
with a B.S. in Political Science. I then worked in television news
for almost 8 years in WV, IL and FL. I decided to place the career
on the back burner when I met my husband, John, in Champaign, IL,
where he was attending the U of I. We moved to Pensacola, FL, where
he earned his wings as a Naval Aviator and I continued working in TV.
After several deployments and four years in Jacksonville, we are now
back in P'cola for a shore tour and John is a navy flight instructor.
I am a stay-at-home mom to 2 year old Bella Victoria and am also 6
months pregnant with our son (due in November). This will be the
last one because I am getting WAY TOO OLD for this! Future plans are
up in the air right now, but we may make a transition to flying for
the Coast Guard or the airlines. If anyone would like to e-mail,
