Comments: Just wanted to give a quick update -- We welcomed our daughter, Lindsay Denise (named after my dad), on August 27, 2005. Big brother Luke loves her and drives her crazy, all at the same time. We are still in Morgantown, and I am still with the same law firm. For all of you WVU grads who haven't been back in awhile -- you wouldn't believe the changes here! They are tearing down houses in Sunnyside to make new apartment buildings and parking lots, and we have tons more stores and restaurants now. I can't believe how much Mo'town has improved since I came to school here in 1994. It's actually turned into a great place to raise a family. Hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe we are turning 30 this year!

Comments: Hi everyone! Just updating things a bit as a lot has changed. I left Michigan in June of 2005. It was just too cold for me! I am now living in the mountians of the Carolinas just outside of Asheville. It is so cool here...a really great place to live. It reminds me a lot of West Virginia with much milder winters. I am still working as a social worker for a Hospice organization and loving every minute of it. I continue to keep track of everyones email adresses as they change for future reunions. Hope everyone is well!

Now, Stop complaining about the reunion. Life is too too short to get hung up on such trivial matters. Believe me. I know. I am old and gray but still teaching in a close by state. Teach your chilren well..and teach them to respect teachers.

Comments: Wow! It's great to be a Mountaineer, huh? First, the Elite 8 run in basketball, now a Sugar Bowl victory and a top 5 finish in the polls!! I-A collegiate sports is alive and well in WV thanks to the Mountaineers.

Well, enough of the gloating of a WVU graduate, back to the update. I'm now in Richlands, VA, going to law school at the Appalachian School of Law. Just survived my first semester and did pretty well. Hoping for an equally successful second semester and a kickn' legal internship in the summer.

Still with my girlfriend, Jen, and shopping for a ring as I write this. Over four years is enough preparation for an engagement!

Email's the same, address is different, and phone's different. New phone (cell is all I've got): 724-600-6936. If you need my new address, call me for it.

Good talking to many of my WWHS friends over the holidays! Keep in touch all of ya! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Comments: Hello everyone!!! Its pretty cool to hear about where some of us now live, what we do, and how many offspring we can produce in 10 or ll years since we graduated from WWHS. Though I must admit the I can do with all the complaining in regards to the reunion. We all are aware that summer 04 was our 10 year reunion since graduating high school. If we weren't invited or didn't get notice, I firmly believe that in this day and age we could make some effort personally to find out the information. Thanks to those who made valid effort at 10 reunion, you did a ton more than I would have, seriously.

Now I feel better I have my 2 cents on that topic. I hope everyone is enjoying summer 2005 and life. Nikki White so good to hear where you are and that you MK have a child. Send MK a cheers for me. I haven't heard from J. Ayres in about 8 yrs. though I did run into her in a Beckley (where she now lives at home) over Christmas 2004. I was in Brent Slones wedding the last weekend of July in Cour de'lane, Idaho. He married a good friend of ours from college Jennifer Slone. Jason and Katie Chipps are about to welcome a baby boy in November. Jermey Edwards and his wife have two gorgeous daughters. For me, living in Denver, no kids, no wife, but a wonderful dating a wonderful gal from Fort Worth Texas I care deeply for and that I refer to as my girlfriend, roomate, etc....lol I suppose thats all the news I have in regards to the mis-fits of Class 1994!!! Hope everyone

Comments: Hello friends. It's been a while. I hate to hear all the drama surrounding the "reunion." I must say as soon as I was told it was happening I was told it was cancelled. Big deal. Sure it would be nice to see you all, but I think we hear how everyone is doing for the most part. Becky M. in Charlotte too hu? Andrew - you go! Live it up buddy. Yeah, okay so it would be nice to see a lot of people. Anyone know where Jaime Ayres is? For those of you who care and don't already know I married Mike Kincaid, I teach the fifth grade in Statesville, NC, and we had a son a little over a year ago. Children sure do put things in perspective don't they?

Drew keep truckin', but I'm sorry this "Lassie" doesn't feel your pain. :)

See you all in a few years...

Now living in: Romania till I get real a job...

Comments: Last week, as I sat on a 10 hour train ride from the middle of nowhere to my village I began thinking to myself "What's missing from my life?" The train was so slow and hot and the bathroom was so disgusting that I felt compelled to hold it rather than brave the stench. It was a perfect setting to re-examine my life. I never could figure out what it was that could complete me. Until Today!

I just read the recent postings on our alumni 1994 site and realized that in three years over here in Romania I haven't seen a Jerry Springer episode at all. Damn I miss the bearded "little people" who have severe prejudices against Asian contortion twins. Better yet, I especially miss watching the midgets and contortionists having a chance to fight it out on a nationally televised talk show. Then the "coup de gras" comes in the last few seconds with Springer's grand summation of what has just taken place to fully capture the moment in his undying wisdom-laden words of his last thoughts. You don't know how boring life is without regular trashy talk shows to watch. Oprah doesn't count. And Dr. Phil is a weenie.

Someone mentioned that maybe the angry-ranting-poster always wanted to be a Lassie... I must now confess to all of you my fellow 1994-ians that I, Drew Thurman, always wanted to be a Lassie. Maybe it was my passion for dance; maybe it was the thought of the tight elastic-spandex costume on my skin, the knowledge that a crowd full of high school dads would be thinking about my body, or the thought of me actually being on a bus with all the other Lassies. I just don't know. But it's such a shame that I wasn't able to fulfill my life's dream.

Unfortunately my trans-gender sexual modification surgery came too late because my mommy wouldn't sign my permission slip from the clinic. I think my mother didn't sign for fear that I would be stoned to death by WV rednecks kind of like Teena Brandon in "Boys don't Cry. You can all call me Drucilla now... The cheerleaders were ok but they just seemed a bit more elite. The definitely didn't have as much fun as Lassies. Actually rather than wanting to BE a Lassie I wanted to be IN a lassie. Any former ex-lassies want to throw a man a sympathy lay? Warning I only like fatties...I'm kinda kinky that way. Like Shallow Hal.

As for OutKasts at the reunion... Were we that segregated in High School that we had two musical geniuses at WWHS. The future recording artists of ATLiens, Stankonia, and Speakerboxx & the Love Below? Man they should work on more cultural integration between black and white students. Did anyone get autographs? I wouldn't worry about people not talking to Outkast. They make enough money nowadays to buy WWHS, lock, stock, and two smoking bong pipes.

I'm serious about the lack of cultural integration though cause I can't remember anyone other than Chris Brown or Bubba Mahan that I had any type of a friendship with. Maybe I'm just forgetting cause it was 11 years ago but this bothers me cause I know there were black students at our HS. We talked with the Asians... Why not the blacks?

I guess now that I realize it, we were all kind of stupid in High School. I really was. I had friends and some of us didn't really hang out with others cause we didn't like them. I guess that fits the definition of click. I still have friends that I hang out as a group but I'm a lot more open to others. A lot more tolerant too. I couldn't come to the reunion/bar-party. Whatever we want to call it. I wish I could have. Even IF, and that's an IF, it was just a group of friends that were a click in high school I still would have liked to go. Maybe even my click was represented! I don't know. If I saw Outkasts I would have taken the time that I didn't take 10 years ago and asked them about their lives and tried to get to know them better.

As for my life. I'm about 4 days shy of being unemployed, homeless, and living in another country. Call me George Costanza. Sounds funny but its true. I'm trying to get a job somewhere in Asia or Africa working with non-profits who work with international development and post-crisis help. The job market is competitive everywhere. Sounds like my friends in the states aren't having an easy time getting a job there. Other friends of mine just got laid off cause of jobs being sent oversees. That's the future we better get ready cause we can't stop globalization. If it gets too dire I guess I can sell my body for spare change. I doubt that I would get much money. Not many people will pay for a 30 year old man with a beer gut and hairy chest.

Hey guys. Did you notice that all of a sudden now that you are nearing 30 that you have hair growing in places that you never wanted it? All the while that the hair you do want is starting to fade away. My forehead has become a 5-head. Plus when I party nowadays it takes just a little more recovery time. What happened to the days when I could stay up till 5 in the morning for months at a time. And now I read books for enjoyment instead as an assignment. Probably cause I don't have a TV. I sure miss that talking picture box. I miss a clothes washer even more. I thought of getting a girlfriend so she could do it for me but that is kind or rude...Besides I cook and wash my clothes better than anyone else.

I just wanted to chime in with a note saying hello. Hope you get some small degree of amusement from this message. I did. If you are offended then you need to relax and watch some Chris Rock, Dennis Leary, or Sam Kenison and then you will know what offensive really is. Hell while you're at it watch the godfathers Richard Pryor and Redd Rox.

Peace-out

Drew

Comments: Just wanted to respond, this is the most people I have seen talking from the class of 1994 since I looked at this web site. There were a lot of clicks/groups in the class but good for them. I probably would have came to the reunion but it didn't look like there was going to be a big turn out. So I skipped it and done something else more interesting with my family. But good to hear everyone getting along have fun or keep bashing each other becausing it is interesting too. Good luck in life.

Comments: Just talked to Shane Mullens and his lovely wife this past Sunday at Bob Evans right after church and that reminded me to try and find this site again. I knew I hadn't posted in a while and needed to update my info - I also never bookmark any sites, but this will be my first :-). Man, have I missed a lot?!? Anyway, down with the negative, let's get positive. First things, first. I WANT TO HELP WITH THE 15-YEAR REUNION. Even though I will be in law school (Finally! More on that later), I will make time to help track people down, send out cards, or do whatever needs done. I'm a pro at finding people, just ask some of my ex's that I like saying hi to from time-to-time (lol). Here's my information for Sybil, Natalie, Michelle, etc....

T. Aaron Metz
PO Box 18131
South Charleston, WV 25303
Cell: 304-610-0876 (privacy? Who needs privacy?!)

This is my business PO Box and all mail sent there will be forwarded to me by one of my employees if I'm away. I'll update with the new information when I find out what state I'll be living in for law school - Virginia, Ohio, Florida, West Virginia?

So, about me? First of all, I wish Al Martine were correct about Disney, but my health changed things. I had an internship lined up with Disney in their Operations Department and was ready to go. As you all can see, I even posted it on May 10th of last year because I was so excited. Funny how life works, THREE DAYS after that posting I suffered from Pulmonary Emboli (blood clots) in both of my lungs and almost joined my old friend Kevin Green. Long story short, after a 7-day hospital stay and missing my second graduation from WVU doctor's orders said no Disney, no law school, nothing away from my family for at least a year. So here I am, now off of the stinkin' blood thinners they had me on for a year and excited to move on with my life. That means law school in the fall and probably an engagement soon (shhhhhh....don't tell).

In the meantime my brother and I bought a restaurant in South Charleston in August of last year that I run and manage. Smart thing, let me tell you, doctors say stay away from stress and strain and I become a small business owner! Hope you see the irony there. It has been fun and educational hiring, firing, dealing with suppliers, going to franchise meetings, and all of the other drama that comes with running a restaurant.

The taste of death definitely changes one's perspective. Ever since my experience with near-fatal illness and my experiences with my business I now recognize that life is short and real friends are few. We may not all remember one another or know/know of everyone from our 1994 class, but we still have that common bond. I'm sure when 2009 rolls around we will embrace that bond like we never knew we could in 1994. So here's to a successful reunion in 2009!

Comments: I just want to say that I sincerely apologize if I offended anyone from my previous post. I really did not mean it the way it sounds. I did not feel there were "outcasts" or whatever that were there and not wanted. I just thought people should have a choice of whether to come or not. I hate that anyone thinks I have always been like that. I am sorry-- Jude and I discuss often how we would never want our children to think they are any better than anyone or are ever mean and cruel to anyone else. I really just wanted to commend the girls who tried to save it. I also want to apologize to Megan. I still feel things weren't handled in the appropriate manner, but I know how it is to be a busy mom and if I had to plan a reunion also, I don't think I could do it. We were one of the couples who didn't respond in time and probably were part of the reason it was cancelled. I say next time everyone offer/receive help and there won't be a mess like this again. I wish that the "disgusted" person would have mentioned this a bit sooner-- it has almost been a year. I hope we can all put it behind us and look forward to the 15 year. If we keep this "stirred" up it will just cause tension for the next one. That will be no help to anyone. There is so much more in this life to worry about than what happened with the class of 1994's 10 year reunion. I really am sorry if my post started this up or hurt anyone. It was not meant to. Hope all is well with everyone-- Take Care.

Comments: If you guys thought that was bad, go back and read the old posts in the class of 1992 section... The so called reunion was a "bust" I think that only about 10-15 people did get invited. Now that was really funny.... Just plan for the future, make the next one the best one yet..... And really the class of "92" was truly the first class to NOT have a 10 year reunion, in all of Woodrow's history... I am looking forward to the 15 year one, and I will help find people and get all the info out....

Just chalk that one for a lesson learned, and get the word out for your 15th one.....life is short and we are all still young enough to take full advantage of our youth...

Good luck on the next reunion!

Comments: Hey "I can't believe that," I think you meant to spell it "you're" not "your." I don't think I'm perfect, but your grammar is definitely much less perfect. By the way, thanks for proving my point. YOUR energy wasted to respond with such a childish, nonsensical rant far outweighs the fact that I was actually making a point. By the way, I think you have anger issues.

Hey "MATURE and OVER IT," the same goes for you - You, also, have proven my point. Reread your contribution and you may notice that you focused more on me, personally, and less on my valid points. I NEVER insulted anyone directly (okay, except for Lori Z. who deserved it after her comment about the poor outcasts at Dick's that had no one to hang with) but making personal and insulting comments about me is all you have done. Thanks to our resident counselor...hmmm, counselor? I digress. And for the record, we DID NOT have a 10-year reunion. Our class of "over-achievers" DIDN'T pull it off. Sorry to disappoint, but I think the amount of people I saw there wouldn't constitute a reunion, but to say it again, just some friends having some drinks. Finally, I do live in peace, but thanks for checking.

Hey Sybil...thanks. I may not agree with your labeling of the "reunion" or how it was set up, but I very much appreciate your explanation. It was a welcomed breath of fresh air amongst the others spewing text pollution. Honestly, I wrote my initial posting to get people fired up but to also make you realize what you people look like and come off as to others. Now people are REALLY showing their true colors.

Hey Steve, just calling it like I saw it. You should seriously considering toning down your Testosterone levels - Lot's of aggression. Maybe you should speak with "MATURE and OVER IT." SHE seems like she's a pro.

Alright people, let's get this straight. You need to read what I wrote one more time. Understand that I am of the opinion that Megan DID screw up, but there's no need to berate her over and over again. We're all bigger than that. Remember, WE voted for her to do this. We are all responsible for her being put in that position. Second, I believe that it's OBVIOUS that the gathering at Dick's was mostly a group of the same people that were always together in school. Call it a clique, circle, faction, or whatever - It was just reliving High School for a night. I respect the effort but must reiterate - YOU WERE JUST ONE OR TWO GROUPS FROM SCHOOL out of MANY and decided to get together at Dick's. Lori proved that point by making the comment about the people who had no one to hang with.

It will be a successful reunion when years of preparation culminate into a gathering of everyone who can come, not just the certain groups who feel like meeting. Let's be frank about this, we all know that we all didn't like one another and all had our little crowds to be with back in 1994. It is just my hope that we can have ALL of them represented in 2009 and stop calling 2004 a success. 2004 WAS A FAILURE and we all are to blame. It may have been fun for some, but for all overall, it was a failure.

This is the last you'll hear from me unless someone goes completely off the edge in response. Thanks for the forum. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2009. Nope, you'll probably never know who I am, but that's okay. I wouldn't stick out to most of you anyway.

You should have saved the energy it took to write this e-mail. That was a waste of 10 seconds that I will never recover! I was not invited to the first reunion...but so what. Someone screwed up!! Remember, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones!!! I guess you think your perfect. I'll take a guess....HMM. If your not the "ultra-popular" you must still be "ultra-geek"!! Get a life disgruntled and disgusted!!! I do have a request.... tell us who you are so I can laugh at your pitiful ass!! BOOHOO. BOOHOO. BOOHOO. Dumb...!!

Comments: First , don't talk for others! I am sure they can type. Second, GET OVER IT!!!!!!! Is it 1994, still? Are you still fat, ugly, or unacceptable to yourself? You act like your maturity level is still in high school....better yet junior high! Talk about people needing to look in the mirror!! Go ahead and call Jenny Craig, Montel Williams, Dr Phil, or write Dear Abby...... whoever you need to get over your insecurities! I was not invited to the first reunion, but I took the responsibility to look it up!!! I could have been reached if a notice was sent to my high school address! Do you see me bitching about it? NO! I can count how many years we have been out of high school. I just wanted to go... hoping to see some old friends or just make new ones. You are right about one thing... it is for the "WHOLE CLASS". I am glad that some people took the initiative to post a new reunion on the alumni page and classmates.com to reach as many people as they could in less than two weeks. Obviously, they gave a shit about the class of '94!!!!! NOT JUST CERTAIN PEOPLE!!! Okie dokie, genius, (as you say)... if it was for a select few why was it on TWO different web-sites!! I am glad they did it. I don't want us as a class to look bad either. But that is just not good enough for you!!!!! We would have been the first class to not have a 10 reunion. Just picture it... WWHS Class of '94 the group of "real over-achievers" . This is so immature!! This is just an example of your insecurity!! Do you feel better about yourself trying to degrade others who were trying to help? This is more about you and what groups you were not in and obviously NOT the over the fact that you wanted to be a cheerleader, lassie, or lackey!!!! Or in a clique!! "NOT", and I REPEAT over the "NOT" over the reunion. If it was you would be lashing out over the people who did not contact you the first time around!!!! Not the second. And if you were invited the first time around...... then you must have been a personal friend PRESIDENT herself! GET OVER IT!! I hope that you can let go of the "high-school mentality" you speak of and let everyone live in peace!!!!

Oh, and just to let you know I went to the reunion! I observed everyone talking to everyone. I had a BLAST! Unlike you, some people do heal from the tragedies of childhood!!!

PS- I hope you find the inner peace you are searching for!!!!

Comments: Ok so I feel the need to respond to this anonymous classmate of ours as it was I that attempted to contact the members of our class after Megan cancelled the reunion plans. You ask if Megan was asked why she had to cancel the reunion...in the post dated Sunday Aug 1st Megan herself said she cancelled due to the lack of response and that the newspaper did not publish the ad. Ok so I buy that....on the other hand I know that I offered Megan help and got no response from her and neither did a lot of other people who offered their help. We also did not get any info regarding the reunion until a month or so before the actual date & then she cancelled it 2 weeks later. Not enough time to even make plans to go...my job requires a lot of notice when taking time off because I have dying patients & families depending on me. Not to mention I live 8 hours away! Whatever Megan's reasons were she had the help she needed she just never asked...if it was too overwhelming for her at the time due to lifes many ups & downs then a number of folks would have helped.

The other thing about "supposedly everyone being contacted regarding the backup reuinion"....never ever ever have I said I contacted all 400+ members of our class. I made it my responsability to seek out as many classmates as I could in a short period of time. I don't even know what Megan did. I utilized this website and classmates.com where I paid money to have access to email adresses and other info. If you weren't posted at either place then no I did not contact you because I did not know how to. Not to mention I had less than two weeks to get in touch with over 400 people while I was living in Michigan! I contacted as many people as I could which was probably about 200 or more. Thant's all the info i had & that's all I could do.

I whole-heartedly agree that everyone who was a memeber of the Class of 94 should attend reunions & I have continued to make it my responsability to seek out the members of the class that I don't have info on. I update my adresses when new posts come up and check classmates.com for any new info as well. I even have a lsit of the enitre graduating class that's alphabatized showing who I have & don't have info on. At the reunion I had an address book where I asked everyone who was there to put their info in so I would know how to reach them & continuously update it. People also knew other peoples info & put that in there too. Please feel free to email offlist with your info & I will put it in the address book. Since I am a social worker I will uphold the standard of confidentiality if you wish Mr./Ms. disgruntled former classmate :) Tell the 15 other people you talked to to send me their info too & I will be sure to put their names and info in the address book. There is no "invite list"! I just had limited time & resources to search out everyone that I had no email or #'s for.

The get together we had was very nice & a lot of people showed up and we mingled around together..not cliqueish at all I don't think. A lot of us are still good friends and a lot of folks still live in the Beckley area so I think good friends stay friends if they were popular or not. But hey I'm just a cheerleader & lassie lackey so what the heck do I know?

Comments: To the so much more mature classmate that has so much to say about how the reunion was only for a select few. Quit your bitching. If you want something else done about the 15 year reunion then don't berate the ones who are actually trying to do something, get off your cowardly a.. and help. Sybil, Michelle and Natalie did their best with the little time they had. Megan dropped the ball so they did what they could. Personally if this is how you feel about your classmates then I hope you don't get invited to the next one.

Oh, and why am I posting my name? Because I have the balls to take credit for what I say. P... Off!

Comments: Well, well, well. It seems that the "ultra-popular" from our wonderful class of 1994 are breaking their arms patting themselves on the back regarding the self-proclaimed reunion that they organized. I know that Megan screwed things up, but has ANYONE actually spoken with her and found out what happened? Probably not, but you still have no problem passing judgment (quite frequently, I might add). I also know that a "backup reunion" was organized and supposedly "everyone" was contacted. Funny, I wasn't. Neither were about 15 others I have spoken with, so far. I loved the one post where it was said that not all people have access to email and that 5 day's notice is hard for plane reservations, babysitters, et cetera. Okie dokie, geniuses, how do you attempt to contact us? Answer: an internet site that about 5% of our class knows about and, according to one of our resident geniuses, email that not everyone has access to. Here's the bottom-line, and MANY of us have this opinion...A "reunion" is a gathering of the WHOLE class (not just the arrogant, irritating ones) where everyone gets a chance to see old friends, make new ones, and find the common-ground that comes from 10 years of age and different, varying experiences. A "gathering of a clique for some drinks" is when the people who can't let go of their high-school mentality organize their closest friends and some others they feel they can "tolerate" and invite them to Dick's where the former cheerleaders, lassies, and their lackeys sit at their tables while the "tolerable" sit....well....somewhere else. Oh, those poor, poor outsiders that had "NO ONE to hang with" (thanks for the entirely misguided quote from your posting, Lori...you definitely haven't changed). That's EXACTLY the attitude that makes and reinforces my point you arrogant, conceited "people." Anyway, you get my point. Look in the mirror before you start making the invite-list for the 15-year reunion. If you're successful in your self-analysis then EVERYONE will be invited instead of just yourselves and the "tolerable." That means it will be a real reunion instead of just a gathering of close friends who can't accept everyone, instead only themselves.

Oh, and why anonymous? It's quite simple...To bother the ones I'm berating. Why would I give them the satisfaction of knowing the one who has called them out for what they are when they can make complete fools of themselves and be jerks on their own?

Comments: Can we please get some notification if we have a reunion in the future? I knew nothing about the last one until the night before. Anyway, I am working for Baker & Taylor as a pricing analyst. We distribute books and entertainment products. I set up pricing matrices for our entertainment accounts. We are the go between for amazon.com and disney...It's crazy, but we get to go to alot of concerts and get movie and music demos before they hit the stores or the theaters. And no I am not married and have no kids. 60 hour weeks don't leave much time for a social life. Hope everyone is doing well.

Take care

Comments: Well it's nice to see how everyone is doing. Alot of you may not remember me very much, but the others will remember me from all the hate remarks and verbal abuse I received while I attended there. Which is one of the main reasons I dropped out.

But just letting all of you know that I am a very happy person now. I have been married for almost 7 years now to my beautiful wife Lora and together we have 3 wonderful children; Adam 4, Jonathan 3, William 22 months.

I also have a very successful car detail business. I received my G.E.D in 2002; so I am not a complete failure.

To everyone that hurt me verbally or physically....thank you. It made me a better man.

Anyone that would like to talk about old and new times hit me up at these addresses.....

Comments: Hey. I just wanted to say sorry that I missed the reunion. I had a lot going on, so I did not get to make it. i would like to say thanks to Megan for trying to plan everything. That must have been somewhat difficult living out of state with the responsibilities of work, baby, and daily life. I know that i cannot seem to keep up with all of my stuff, much less planning to get 300-400 people together, and I live here in Beckley. But thank you anyway for trying Megan and sorry that I did not respond. It is a good idea to maybe plan a committee for future events. I would be glad to help. Hope that everyone is fine.

Comments: Hey everyone. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Friday night at Dick's! I was amazed at the turnout, considering it supposedly got cancelled. I'm just sorry I didn't get to come out to Grandview on Saturday. I loved talking to everyone and catching up. And Sybil, if you have any pictures of me from Friday night I want them sealed and locked up! Ha, ha. You showed me the god-awful one of me from senior week, so it's hard to say what a picture of me from Friday night would look like. I appreciate everyone involved in keeping the reunion together in a one-week time. Thanks Wendy, Michelle, Sybil, Nat, and anyone else that I left out. And thanks to everyone that showed up. I loved catching up with each and everyone of you. Rock on class of '94. And for those that heard me sing Friday night......Sorry I put you all through that.

Comments: I really enjoy coming to the alumni website to see the various posts. The last time I saw Aaron Metz he was interviewing for the Disney position, and now somewhere in Florida he's dressed like Goofy :).

Also glad to hear that the reunion went well and that quite a few people were able to get together. Would anyone be interested in getting together over Christmas for dinner and drinks? Alissa and I will be coming back sometime December to spend time for the holidays and would enjoy seeing everyone.

As a quick catch up, life on the small island is going very well. Work, marriage, UK English are all good. No little people in our lives yet but the rest of our class seems to have that area covered. :)

If anyone is travelling to the UK for a vacation, please send us an email. We'll find a pub and enjoy an English tradition.

Take care, al

Comments: I just wanted to write and say that Jude and I also had a good time this weekend. It was nice to see everyone and catch-up. Everyone seems to be doing so good. And yes Sybil, you're right, we all do make pretty babies! :)

I want to say thank you to everyone who made the effort to get together in 5 days what it seemed like a job too hard for someone to get together in 10 years. I appreciate that Sybil, Michelle, Natalie, and Wendy took time to keep it together. I didn't really have any strong feelings about the reunion either way- but when something is planned, (although no one had time to plan to come in as it was too short of notice, so that could be why the minimal response) you make an effort to keep that plan going. (People do have lives, some have to fly, and find baby sitters.) My major complaint on the whole matter is that there were people SHOW UP to Dick's Friday night that had NO IDEA it was cancelled. This would be due to the fact that although Megan took it upon herself to cancel it, she took until the weekend of the reunion to send their money back. NOT EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO EMAIL!! So, people showed up and if they didn't know anyone, they had NO ONE to hang with. It was so sad and truly broke my heart. I know that Chris Hall didn't know it was cancelled until Jude told him, and he still didn't receive his money until late, that may be why he thought Megan was keeping it for "future use". So, although we are all fortunate to have blessed lives and good friends, some people are not and were there hoping to see someone from 10 years ago, and had no one due to the irresponsiblilty of one person who decided to receive no help from anyone and plan it herself. (I realize I offered no help because I knew the baby was on the way, but there were people that did offer help and did not even get a response!) That is what I am disappointed about. I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but if she had been there to see it, she would understand. Thanks again to anyone who helped keep it going.

I look forward to the 15 year. I just hope it can be planned a little better and a committee formed so it's not left up to one person.

Everyone take care!

I have some great pictures from Dick's but they either came out dark or you would hate me for posting them :). I am working on trying to fix the darker ones and will send them in to post on this website as soon as I get some time (HA HA). If anyone wants to send me some of their pics (via email or through the mail) I will put them all together for a scrapbook so we can share that at the 15 year reunion. I will send origianl pictures back if I get them in the mail unless you tell me I can keep them. Thanks to everyone that showed up, and to those who couldn't make it we'll see ya in 5!

Comments: Since finances seem to be a problem for the reunion, I would just assume Megan keeps the little bit of money I have mailed in for future use.

Additionally, maybe those that are getting together this weekend and work towards us coordinating some kind of account for future reunions. If we each could kick in a small amount annually, it could go into an account to draw interest and help finance 15 yr and 20 yr events.

Just a thought.

Comments: UPDATE: The Class of 1994 has come together and made plans to celebrate our 10 year reunion! Here is the info:

Friday Aug 13, 2004 - Dick's yacht Club. Must purchase your own food and drinks. 7:00 pm -?

Directions - I 64 East to the Airport Exit. It will be the first building past the Sleep Inn.

Saturday Aug 14, 2004 - Family Picnic at Grandview. Please meet in front of the Amphitheatre. 11:30 am - ?

*Please bring with you to the picnic a covered dish, finger foods, or some type of foods that can be be easily picked up at the grocery store on your way. We are also asking you to bring some type of beverage for everyone to share (bottled water or pop). Our goal is to make sure there is a variety of items especially for the children and for everyone to munch on. Due to the recent cancellation of our reunion there is no way that there is time to take up a collection and have one person buy everything that is needed. All plates, napkins and the like will be there.

How to reach Grandview - To reach Grandview from Beckley follow I-64 East five miles to Exit 129 B. From Lewisburg follow I-64 West forty miles to Exit 129. From either exit, turn right and follow Route 9 North six miles to Grandview.

I hope everyone can make it!

Comments: I am really disappointed that the reunion was cancelled. I was looking forward to seeing some of you. I don't necessarily think the response was poor, people just don't know how/who to get in touch with. I'd be happy to help in any way that I can.

The past ten years has flown by. I got married five years ago this past July to a wonderful guy named Aaron. I have a BEAUTIFUL son that just turned one. I have been teaching kindergarten for the past 4 years. I just recently finished my Master's Degree in Administration.

I'm glad to hear that you are doing great as well.

I met my wife (Kelley) down here and we've been happily married for almost 2 years. We we're planning to make the reunion, so I too am disappointed to see it had to be canceled. If I can be of any help in trying to save it, don't hesitate to contact me. We're still planning to be in town next weekend for anything that comes up on Saturday, but I doubt if we'll be able to make it to Friday night's activities. I'm taking a job transfer with an architecture firm, so we're going to be looking for a house that weekend in Morgantown.

Comments: UPDATE : We have spoken with the folks at Dick's and he informed us that we are all welcome out there on Friday and there will be NO COVER!!! They know out there that there could be a lot of us and he says to come on out! If you want to eat or drink you'll have to pay for that on your own since everything is being done on such short notice. Please email me if you are going to try and make so we can give them a better idea of the number of people that may be coming out. The people at Dick's did not request this but out of respect we owe it to them to give them some type of head count. Even if you don't email me reagrding attending the party at Dick's Friday please come out and enjoy the celebrations. So get out your pictures and yearbooks and come to Dick's on Friday Aug 13!!!! Plans are still in the works for a possible picnic on Saturday Aug 14 but nothing has been finalized. Stay tuned for further info! Can't wait to see everyone.

Comments: Some of us have spoken over the past few days regarding the cancellation of our reunion and have decided to take some action. While this is not an offical "reunion" we have all agreed that we want to get together to celebrate. Natalie has suggested we all meet at Dick's Friday and I agree withe her, as do other people. We have all stated that we would like for us to get together with our children too. I think that possibly we should all go to Little Beaver and bring finger foods and things that you can pick up at the store on your way out. There are tons of things the kids can do out there and we can all enjoy some time with our family. I vote the grown ups get another night out on the town too! If enough people think this is a good idea and work together we can make this happen!

Comments: Hello everyone! I hate that the reunion was cancelled! I was really looking forward to seeing everyone. I volunteered to help with the planning and to contact people, but most of the planning happened in June and that is when I was finishing up the planning for my wedding. I agree that we should form a committee to plan the reunion. If anyone wants to begin working on it, let me know and I will be glad to help.

Sam and I have been happily married since June 19th. I love being married! I guess it helps to be married to a wonderful man! Amare is 18 months old and is doing great. We are planning on having more kids sometime soon. Right now things are very busy because we are trying to buy a house. Hopefully by the end of the summer we will be in a new house. Then we can concentrate on another baby!

I do not understand what has happened regarding our reunion! I know myself and others have offered help which apparently was not excepted. I only found out about the reunion a couple weeks ago and was under the impression the deadline to respond was Aug. 6. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone and kicking back for a weekend.

I have not had enough response to keep the weekend planned. If you are one of the few that has sent money your checks will be returned in the next week. I'm sorry that these events had to be cancelled but our class does not have enough money to cover all of the costs that have already been incurred and with so few registered there would not be enough money to cover the rest of the costs.

Comments: From reading all the entries it is good to see that everyone is doing well. My wife (Katie) and I have recently moved to Beckley from Charlotte, NC where we lived after being married in '02. I worked as a land planner/land designer for a large development company and Katie worked in the marketing department for NASCAR. We made the O' so difficult move back so I could go into the family business. Contrary to what I thought before the move, Beckley has been a blast so far. It surprised me the amount of people who have, either not left or moved back for some reason or another. Anyway, my reason for discovering this website was in search of some information about our reunion. If anyone has any info. don't hesitate to e-mail.

Comments: Just wanted to say hi to all of you that I knew in elementary school through to high school. I went to Crescent Elementary having Miss Baine and Miss Lamb, Mrs. Ennis, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Mullins, and Mrs. Lipscomb. We then moved to Grandview and I finished elementary at Beaver and graduated from Shady Spring in 1994.

Some of you I haven't even seen since Crescent but you all are still vivid in my memories. Sure, I would see some at football games (jr and sr high) or at the mall later on and just glance over but that was your life and I had mine. Funny how that works. My best memories are of my Beckley mates and wanting to be there with you all cause we started out together, I always felt connected and was always missing something, it sometimes just didn't make since or seem fair that we moved across town.

After living and having a family in the Air Force and moving all around the world I have never forgotten you all, as well as, my classmates at Shady. But alas you all were there from the start and after finding this awesome alumni page I just had to get in and say Hi. Although we were separated by time and local I have never forgotten any of you and I wish you and all your families the best!
Cheers!

Comments: Wish I could see you...

Looks like I won't be in WV for the reunion. I am coming home mid June and staying through mid July for a little vacation from the Peace Corps here in Romania. I hope I will see some of you while I am home for my leave. I guess we will always have the 20/25-year one. I have extended my service for a year so I won't be back till summer of 2005. Lets meet up for some cocktails when I get stateside. I will probably be found at the local watering holes during the evening hours. Or look for Beau Johnson and you will find me.

By the way, Peace Corps is NOT a religious organization it is part of the fed. government. The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then-Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country by living and working in developing countries. Check it out if you are interested.

Comments: Plans have REALLY changed since my last posting. I just finished my second Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from WVU (first B.S. in Business Management, Information Systems from WVU, as well) and now I'm off to Orlando, FL to work for the Walt Disney Corporation beginning May 26, 2004. I hope to move my way up the executive ladder and see where it takes me. If nothing looks like it's going to pan out, I'll begin law school in Jacksonville at Florida Coastal School of Law starting January 2005 (always good to have a contingency plan). I have just completed five great years in the WVU Marching Band playing lead trumpet and three years in the WVU Basketball Pep Band playing lead and solo--I'll miss them both very much. I hope I can make it to the reunion, but my schedule at Disney may prevent it. I would really like to see everyone again! So, drop me an email if you get a chance or check my website at www.aaronmetz.com. I don't update it very often NOW, but I will when I get settled in Florida. Take care everybody and God Bless!

Comments: Just got finished reading some of your messages and thought I would add one myself. To be honest I am not sure who some of you are and others I know all to well. Anywho, I am a site engineer/architect in the sunny city of Newport Beach in southern California. FYI, its located 30 minutes south of LA, hour north of San Diego, and 3 hrs. west of Las Vegas. Killer location to be in during your 20's, trust me. Though I can view the ocean, newport harbor and Catalina island from home and work I can still snow ski 7 months a year at Tahoe or Mammoth Mt. Thats the appeal for me about southern California, playing volleyball or bbq-ing with friends on the beach right outside my home in 70's-80's all the while looking at snow capped mts. and knowing you could be playing in the snow or those mountains with-in a hour or two....and the job market is absolutely wonderful...I don't keep intouch with anyone from high school except for Jason Chipps and Brent Slone (crazy)....both are doing well...Chipps is married to a beauty and has the same profession as I do in Charlotte NC.....B-Slone is working on a carear in wildlife management (pocher) in beautiful Idaho living with his gal we went to college with at WVU....wish all you well and hope to make it to the 10yr thingy....CHEERS! Comments: Hello everyone.
I have visited this page twice since hearing about it. It is really cool to hear from some of you again. I am married now, as of September 13, 2003. His name is Sammy and he graduated from Meadow Bridge High School in 1994 and then from WVU in 1998 in Wildlife and Fisheries Management. He now works in Glen Jean as a biologist for the National Park Service. I finally graduated from WVU in English and plan to teach eventually - goal is to teach at the college level... yeah, it took me long enough to graduate... I had to recover from my crack addiction after a brief stay in New York City where I walked the streets for a little while...JUST KIDDING. At least I haven't lost the fun side in these past ten years. I have not changed much... just grew up some...I am one of the few strange ones who still has all of the same friends that I did in high school. In fact, Shasta (Hicks) Lowther was one of my matrons of honor in my recent wedding...which was very beautiful and I could not have asked for more. I am happily married now and getting used to being a housewife/working girl. Dishes suck. No kids yet.. and none hopefully for a little while longer.. I would like a few before 30 if God wills it. I am really excited about the ten year reunion and I agree with Drew.. we need to keep it light and fun. Hopefully, we can drag some of my close friends to it... Shasta will probably want to come. Oh, I went to Jamaica for my honeymoon.. that was really cool. Negril, Hedonism II.. go figure. That is probably the coolest place that I have been since we graduated. I might be going to California this summer with Keri James - she was two years younger than us. I CAN'T wait to go there!!! Other than that, I really have nothing else to say. I do hope that all of you enjoy the nice little novel I have written for you here. If Megan needs any help in planning, do not hesitate to contact me... Everyone take care of yourselves. God bless you.

Comments: Hey group!
I don't know how you all feel about the whole 10yr reunion thing but I am kind of stoked. I went to send a message to remind people in my address book of our upcoming reunion and realized that I had the Grand total of two person's e-mails. I guess a lot of us drifted apart since June of 94. I'm not that sad about this cause we that's just life. It just seemed strange. Only 2 people (not counting the Alumni Page) that I graduated with?
Some people look cynically at reunions and see them as worthless. Well maybe so. But I am excited to see any and all of you who choose to come. I think that it could be fun if we make it right and even though High School is just a blip in your lives it was something we all shared. I'll be coming from Europe to see my family and friends that I haven't seen in a long time and I think this will be a great opportunity for us to put back a few beers while putting the last ten years into perspective as well. I hope you all enjoy the coming holidays that seem to arrive before you know it.
And remember to spread the word about the Reunion the best you can. I for one would like to vote we make it more party style than formal. A big party seems more appropriate than some kind of sit known stuffy dinner. How about a barbeque outside with picnic foods? I haven't talked to Megan Pearl (who was nice enough to begin the planning efforts) about this but why don't you all use this forum as a sounding board to suggest what you would like? This is "our" reunion so how abut putting two cents in? I saw some of the last few reunions and there were a few people who weren't happy. Let's try to avoid that.

Comments: On May 24, 2003 I was married to a wonderful woman, Alissa Booker, who I met when I was finishing up my business degree at WVU back in 1998. She was an exchange student from Australia and only spent 1 semester at WVU.
We emailed and kept in touch for over 4 years until finally seeing each other again in 2001 where we really hit it off again! More emails but didn't see each other again until she moved to London in 2002. A quick trip to London during the summer of '02 was the starting point of our "serious" relationship.
Dating across the sea was tough but when I asked her on Valentines Day to marry me she said yes. Flew back to Charlotte, NC where I was working as a Director of Fundraising for a branch of the YMCA and resigned.
Two months later I boarded a jet for London, we were married in May and now I'm looking for work in the non-profit sector.
That's my story so far.... write when you can. It would be nice to hear from people at home.

Anyhow, I met my husband in 96 & got married in 98 and that's how I ended up in small town Tennessee. Everyday is a new experience and hoping 4 will bring the end to the terrible 2's and traumatic 3's! I am attending nursing school & have 1 year left!! I am on the 10 year plan, obviously. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well!

I work for Children's Home Society of WV as a foster care social worker. I have been with the agency for 5 years and I love it! I always thought that after college I would move away from WV. But, March 10, 2001 I met the love of my life- Sam Smith (from Huntington.) Sam is almost perfect! He does all of the housework and somehow manages to ignore my many mood swing. On January 24, 2003 we welcomed our wonderful son Samuel Amare. He was 6 weeks early and was in NICU for 6 days. That was the hardest 6 days of mylife! He was 6lbs 13 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. As of today, he weighs 9lbs 11 oz and is 22 1/2 inches long! He of course is by far the most beautiful baby in the world! I'v never loved or cherished anything or anyone as I do my son! Comments: Let's see...Just graduated (FINALLY!) from WVU with my Management Information Systems B.S. and, if everythig goes as planned, I'm heading to law school in the fall. Just finished up my second term as President of my fraternity and I'm still a national officer which has me travelling all over the Northeast.
I've had a great time here in Morgantown and now call it home. I just started my own small business, MetzNet, LLC, where I do small networking jobs and computer installs. MetzNet also owns www.FindCollegeApartments.com, my pride and joy and entirely my creation. It's started small, but hopefully I'll expand it nationwide and I won't have to worry about law school.
Besides that, I still play lead trumpet in the WVU Marching Band (going on five years) and the Basketball Pep Band--Might as well since I'm in town! I have a motorcycle, of course, and can't stay away from her when it's warm.
I'd like to hear from anyone from the old days, just email me at aaron@aaronmetz.com. Take Care Everyone! Also, may my good friend Kevin Green rest in peace...It was way too early for him to go.

One day if you get bored, drop me a line.

Name: Drew Thurman
Class of: 1994
Now living in: Romania - Village of Miercurea Ciuc
Date: Tuesday, May 14, 2002
Comments: Well, I am in Romania as a Peace Corps Volunteer! Its nice here despite the hardships that the country suffered throughout the past century with WWI, WWII, Communism, Post-communism reforms, etc.
The country is beautifull, the people are really friendly and they don't harbor the usual load of "Anti-American" sentiment that most foriegn countries do. If anything, I'm treated better cause of the fact that I'm considered a "visiter" in thier country. They treat thier guests well!
I am an environmental volunteer living in a small town called Miercurea Ciuc in southeastern Transylvania. Its really cool but kind of like the "old times" Its common to see the villagers riding around in thier oxen-pulled wagons carrying agricultural products. All of this while a BMW passes the oxen on thier way out of town. Huge disparity in wealth here! I live on about 200 bucks a month so If anyone wants to visit the price is right! If anyone happens to be in Europe and wants a place to stay i have an Extra bedroom and a nice apartment. Its actually kinda Phat! I'm learning Romanian and Hungarian languages cause I live in a Hungarian town in the middle of Romania where there is more than one language spoken. I speak all right in Romanian but my Hungarian is coming along slowly. I will be here for 2 to 3 years but I have plans to come back and visit for the 10-year Reunion. I'm going to try my best to get there. Lets have an open bar so we can celebrate bieng old as "@#$^!" (explative)
For those of you who are school teachers, If you wanted to write and recieve correspondence for a cultural exchange for your students I could possibly look into this as a Peace Corps Project/w funding. Something to think about. My e-mail is peacecorpsdrew@hotmail.com and my address is below. If anyone has any questions about the Peace Corps, Romania, or just wants to get in touch just send me an e-mail or something.

Comments: Well, Jesus! I feel a little out of place...I don't have any kids, I don't work for NASA, and I'm not getting ready to celebrate 5 years of happy marriage...but its all good. :) I received my Music Education degree from West Liberty State College (Wheeling, WV) in 1999. Lived in Pittsburgh, PA for a while and then got a sweet job offer out here in Phoenix, AZ (where the high today is 114 degrees). Went to school while teaching music and got my MCSE. Now I'm a Network and Systems Administrator...which consequently pays MUCH better than teaching. :) Looking to move back to Pittsburgh ASAP...don't get me wrong: its nice to be able to wear shorts in January, but the Phoenix people...well, they suck. Hope everyone is doing well! Crab Orchard audiences are the BEST audiences! :)

I graduated in 1999 with a B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and subsequently moved to the suburb of Washington, DC where I currently live.
